MOBILE APP CONCEPT & UI DESIGN: Collectibles

App Concept

The concept of this app is for the user to create different lists to track any form of collectable items they want such as figures,  trading cards, bottle caps, etc. The user will receive in-app credits depending on the rarity of the item when they mark off that they have collected an item. The in-app credits can then be exchanged for different cosmetic accessories - such as different display cases, shelves, wallpapers, lighting, etc. - to show off on their favourite collected items on the digital shelf.

 

Design Style

For the design style, I chose to use the main colours associated with XBox: white and green. Because the purpose of the app is to, in a sense, game-ify real life, I decided to use colours that are strongly associated with gaming. For the same reason, I also chose to use dark grey and green for an alternative style of the app because those colours are also part of XBox's branding. Although PlayStation and PC gaming are also really popular, those two do not have strong consistent colours for their brandings. For the logo, I made the monogram as a trophy as video games have used a trophy icon to represent their collectables. On the other hand, any collector will treat or view the items in their collections as trophies. The centre/cup part of the trophy is made into a "C" as the name of the app is called Collectibles.
